Two governorship aspirants of the
Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State – a former Chairman of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and a
former Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr.
Mohammed Modibbo, have presented their agenda to the party.
The two aspirants, at separate meetings
with the party leadership in Yola on Saturday said they would give
priority to security, youths and women empowerment.
Modibbo expressed the need to accord the youth priority in governance.
“My desire to contest the governorship
seat is in order to bring my wealth of experience in the civil service
to the evolve changes needed in the state,” he added.
On his part, Ribadu expressed gratitude
to the leadership of the PDP for the opportunity given him to contest
the election with a waiver.
He stated, “I pledge good service to the
people and commitment to the party, the passion for which I am known is
always to uplift the people.”
He said he joined the governorship race to bring developmental changes in Adamawa State with emphasis on women and youths.
Meanwhile, the campaign organisation of
Modibbo said it had stepped up the campaign to ensure the victory of the
former UBEC boss during the September 6, 2014 governorship primary of
the PDP.
The Director-General of the group, Mr.
Fanuel Mosu, in a statement on Sunday, explained that the group would
depend largely on massive grassroots mobilisation and consultations.
He said the group was looking at new strategies that would put Modibbo ahead of other aspirants in the election.
Mosu stated that, “We reviewed our
campaign structures from ward, council and zonal levels and necessary
improvements have been observed, yet we are not willing to rest on our
laurels.”
